The United Nations Security Council has welcomed Qatar’s diplomatic efforts in mediating between the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Congo River Alliance, also known as the March 23 Movement, efforts that culminated in the signing of the Doha Peace Framework on November 15, 2025.
This recognition was included in Resolution 2808 (2025), adopted by the Council, which highlighted Qatar’s constructive role in facilitating dialogue and advancing peaceful solutions to one of Central Africa’s most complex conflicts.
The resolution also approved a one-year extension of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), prolonging its mandate until December 20, 2026, to support stability, political engagement, and security efforts in the country.
The Security Council’s stance underscores the growing international acknowledgment of Qatar’s influence in conflict mediation and its commitment to promoting peace through diplomacy and dialogue on the global stage.
