Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received today, Sunday, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohammed Al-Badwi. The meeting focused on reviewing joint Gulf efforts and exploring ways to enhance coordination and cooperation among member states to strengthen regional integration. The meeting was attended by the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Multilateral International Affairs, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi.

This gathering follows a recent meeting between President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, and the GCC Secretary-General, during which the president addressed unilateral measures taken by the Southern Transitional Council in eastern Yemen, emphasizing that Yemen’s security and stability are closely tied to Gulf regional security.

President Al-Alimi highlighted the historical and fraternal relations between Yemen and the GCC, appreciating the Secretariat’s support for the Yemeni people and their constitutional legitimacy. He praised the recent GCC statement and recognized its role in promoting peace and stability in Yemen, from the Gulf Initiative and Riyadh Agreement to the Yemeni-Yemeni consultations that led to the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council.

He stressed the importance of collective efforts to preserve gains achieved through Riyadh consultations, restore state institutions, and achieve peace and stability across all provinces, reaffirming that the southern issue should be resolved according to public will and negotiation outcomes.

For his part, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Badwi reaffirmed the Council’s steadfast support for the Yemeni people, emphasizing backing for the Presidential Leadership Council and government, and working toward a comprehensive political solution that safeguards Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, in line with the Gulf Initiative, its implementation mechanisms, national dialogue outcomes, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216.
