The countdown has officially begun for the kick-off of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, as the tournament prepares to deliver its most extensive global broadcast coverage to date.

The Confederation of African Football announced that the opening match of AFCON 2025 will be broadcast across approximately 180 regions worldwide, including key markets in Asia such as Japan and South Korea, as well as 18 European countries.

The tournament opener, featuring hosts Morocco against Comoros, will take place on Sunday evening at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium, marking the beginning of a competition expected to attract record-breaking viewership.

According to CAF, the current edition is on track to surpass the audience figures of the previous tournament in Côte d’Ivoire, which recorded nearly 1.5 billion views globally. The expansion includes first-time broadcasts in Japan, alongside major Chinese platforms with over 500 million viewers and Indian streaming services exceeding 160 million subscribers.

AFCON 2025 will be aired across Africa through 60 television channels, 49 of which are free-to-air. Meanwhile, beIN Sports will handle broadcasting rights across North Africa and the Middle East, in addition to a landmark agreement that allows free coverage in the United Kingdom.
